Fixing Connection Issues with Logitech Unifying Receiver Due to WiFi 6 and 5GHz

For the past few years, I have been using the Logitech MX Keys (*) and Logitech MX Master 3 (*) without major issues on my computer and several other devices via a KVM switch (*). Each device connects through a Logitech Unifying Receiver.

A few weeks ago, I replaced my 24-port switch with a Tenda WiFi 6 router to save power, as I typically have only three or four devices connected at a time. The router is located in the adjacent room.

Since making this switch, I noticed that whenever I used devices like the OneXPlayer Mini Pro, GPD Win 3, HP ProBook, or Surface Pro 7—while connected to the Tenda router via WiFi 6 or 5GHz—my mouse started lagging.

After extensive troubleshooting, including repositioning the Logitech Unifying Receiver (*) and tweaking the WiFi settings in Device Manager, I couldn’t find a reliable solution.

As a last resort, I experimented with the Tenda router’s settings and adjusted the bandwidth for the 5GHz and WiFi 6 network. Setting the bandwidth to a maximum of 80MHz resolved all issues with the Logitech Unifying Receiver and the MX Master 3 (*).

Solution:

  • Adjust the bandwidth for 5GHz and WiFi 6 from 20/40/80/160MHz to 80MHz.
  • Note: This may reduce both speed and range of your WiFi network.
